The year is 3000. A whopping thousand years from the famous year 2000, the one that was meant to crash computers and destroy modern civilization. Boy, were they wrong on that front! Sure, a lot of people did very well in the 2000’s: Donald Trump got richer, Paris Hilton got dumber, we got to flying cars being the norm and all of them seemed to suck power strait from the air if you didn’t understand how far solar power had come. We were even pretty close to making Star Trek coming true, the replicators and everything. It was pretty good.
5 years ago a war started. Sure, I know what your thinking: Bush was good at wars and Obama was even worse. This was far from the war your thinking of. For once all those conspiracy theorists we all claimed were crazy were right: nuclear war did start and nuclear winter did come. It was freezing, that’s for sure. Most of our most modern synthetics, ones that were built to make even the artic seem like a nice toasty desert, failed if they weren’t paired with many other items. Our food was grown in greenhouses that barely worked, fuck the idea of having meat. Anything we could eat for meat took too much of the already scarce food supply we had. Getting one cow up to weight to feed people could feed 20 people for 3 years. It wasn’t worth wasting the food on.
I know what you’re thinking: that sounds like something a vegetarian what worshiped the ground PETA walked on would spit out for a meatatarian out there that would eat nothing else. Funny thing is it’s a true number, not eating meat truly does feed more people. If more people in the 2000’s had stopped eating meat we could have not only fed all the starving people in the US and Africa, we could have stockpiled enough food to feed everyone on the planet for 10 years in this event. Too bad so many of us were brainwashed into thinking meat was something we still needed and that the figure so many vegetarians spit out was wrong. Maybe fewer people would be starving to death now, hell maybe we could have even saved some of the people who had already starved to death.
Not only is the food short but money means nothing. The government made the money and the government was gone. No more money was made. Most of the people I know used their money to start a fire, it made for easy lighting. There are few who think that having the old money will actually help them do something. Any sense of money has been destroyed, no one takes it anymore. The fact you were rich on paper before the war means nothing now. The human race now fights just to survive. At this point I wonder if we even will considering we managed to kill everything else, wouldn’t it make sense we would kill ourselves as well?
