Please... Don't Leave

Tears stream down my face as I turn towards him, moonlight shining down on his dark blue hair. Since getting out of the academy I have felt useless, especially whenever his uncaring eyes fell on me. But I can’t let him leave.
“If, if you go, I’ll scream.” I threatened, but even to my own ears it sounded like a pathetic plea.
His dark eyes were distant, more so than before the start of the exams. What had happened? Why was he so bent on revenge that he couldn’t even see me?
He took one glance at me, and disappeared in a puff of smoke. I tried to scream, but despair flooded through me. I stood, gaping at the nothingness he left behind.
Then I heard someone appear behind me.
“Thank you.”
“Please…” I whispered, but he was already gone. My whole body quivered, and I fell to my knees. No. No. No.
Tears fell to the ground, and in the distance I could hear him running through the trees.
He’s gone. I couldn’t stop him. He’s gone.

Hmmmm, replace the second "face" in the first sentence with "turn towards" or similar, apart from the, very nice. :D

Thank you, I was trying to think of another word, but at that time my mind was quite blank, so I appreciate the help!
