I've had to deal with a lot of deaths within my life, and I would like to think this is real...

I see you standing there,

a shadow in the open meadow air.

Waiting for something.

Yet needing nothing.

You extend your hand to the both sides,

and other figures join you.

One by one they appear,

hand in hand atop the meadow.

You call to me,

barely a whisper under the sky.

The wind blows through my hair every direction.

As I close my eyes, I hear your words.

“We are waiting for you.”

My eyes fly open,

searching for you amongst the meadow.

But you are gone,

along with the rest.

Leaving me alone with your words.

The wind is still,

and all I can hear are your words.

I climb the hill to where you stood,

now I know that this is true.

You’re all waiting,

waiting for your families and friends to join you there.

But now you are just shadows in the wind.
