This poem is about dreams. I have many dreams, but hold back from achieving them; this is my catharsis

This blank page staring back at me

Represents everything that I could be

Just follow my dreams, it’s that easy.

Or at least that’s what momma always told me.

Can I be anything I wanna be?

Can I roam these lands, with all the beauties to see?

Can I jump real high and touch the stars?

Can I be someone new and erase these scars?

I want to live my life to inspire and teach

That our biggest dreams are never out of reach

But how can I do that when I won’t reach for the stars

How can I do that when I’m held back by these scars

I can’t progress if I’m always looking back

And I can’t see the future if my world goes black

I need to try, to move on from my past

Or these dreams of mine, they won’t last

They’ll shrivel up and fly away

Not a care in the world of what I have to say.

I dream, I dream, I dream so hard

And with my last little confidence shard

I will stand up and reach for my dreams

I will swim the farthest ocean, fly against the jet streams

I will do what it takes to become what I yearn for

Because I’m incomplete if I don’t step through the open the door.
