The night you are so lovely

So empty and free

Endless and silent

Many O’ nights in progress I’ve spent

I love the misery and pain of nothing

The reasons left open to no true eyes

No lights to guide the way

Only ones created by you

And to you night beautiful and dark

I am in your depth

Or shall I say

I’ve spent it in the tears I’ve wept

Knowing not of what would come

Except one true knowledge

That the sun will rise and show all

All that I hadn’t seen in the midnight air

The dreams shall take me down

Until the sun does itself

And I will rise with its fall

Overcoming shades of black

With my own shadows of grey
