Black heart

I’m drowning in the bottom

of a bottle

it tears us apart

I’m not the man I was before

I wish I could change

I’m your father, husband, son

a friend of who

you want me to be

I write another line

in the story of my life

another book

another page

where there was a blank space

erase it

replace it

memory in my mind

a fresh start

for a black heart

tomorrow is another day

a fresh start

for a black heart

please make it go away

I’m staring at a broken

tired empty soul

live my life alone

a broken man I am today

he's now dead and gone

the choices I have made

empty shell on display

walking the path I chose

a lonely bitter road

another book

another page

where there was a blank space

erase it

replace it

memory in my mind

a fresh start

for a black heart

tomorrow is another day

a fresh start

for a black heart

please make it go away

another time, another place

you were saving my grace

a fresh start

for a black heart

tomorrow's gone away

a fresh start

for a black heart

drink it all away
