Ana Cried

On the day

that I left Hawaii

forever

some not so

small part of me

died

When it was time

for Brian

to drive me

to the airport

Ana broke down

and cried

Leaving

my whole life

behind me

to embark

on a different trek

was a release

and relief

all the pain

shame and grief

like leaving

the scene

of a wreck

Now I

only see Ana

on FaceTime

She's in Mexico

taking care

of Mom and Dad

I wish I could

reach through

this screen

to the places

we've been

and reclaim those times

that we had

It’s very difficult to leave behind those we love. Good poem.
