Useless
Sometimes I feel
That I’ve outlived my usefulness
I’m definitely past my prime
Sometimes I think
All I have left to offer
Are ideas and experience
Sometimes I think
I’m running out of time
When my friends
Try to protect me
From lifting a finger
Or God forbid
From lending a helping hand
I harken back to a time
When I was the one
Who was bulletproof
Now I’m a stranger
In a foreign land
Maybe I shouldn’t worry about it
Just suck it up
And enjoy the ride
It’s all for the best
I know this to be true
But there is no more bitter pill
To swallow
Than a working man’s pride
So let the young bucks
Learn from my lesson
Someday this will happen to you
Aches and pains
Will arrive without justification
And someone else will decide
What you can or cannot do
