The Lost Jungle

As I walked through the mysterious jungle I ran into a gigantic tree with very strange leaves. The leaves were formed in the shape of a star. But that was not the weirdest part… the leaves were all different colors and each leaf glowed. But the color of the light that they were giving was not the same as the color of the leaf; the colors of the light were randomized for each leaf. There were vines hanging down from what I was guessing were branches high up in the tree, but I couldn’t quite make out if they were actually branches or not. I tugged on the vines and put all my weight on it by hanging on it, just to check if it was sturdy enough for me to climb. Seeing as neither the vine nor branch had broken or collapsed to my weight I decided it was safe enough to climb. Back in Ethiopia when I was a kid I would always climb ropes with knots in it, for hunting practice and in case of us running into a wild animal and having to climb into a tree or something, but this vine did not have any knots in it but thankfully I could keep myself up by pushing off the tree and climbing the vine at the same time. I took big steps on the tree and reached very far up on the vine at the same time. After almost six minutes of climbing this vine I saw what I thought was the top of the tree but once I got closer it turned out to be the end of the vine, which ended at the branch that it was hanging on. I was about to give up but I noticed little tree hallows that seemed to be circling the tree. Before I moved to Ethiopia I lived in Montana and did a lot of rock climbing, indoor and outdoor. Tree climbing couldn’t be so much harder. I grabbed onto the first tree hallow and found that it was easy to get a good grip onto it. After about a minute of climbing a big flash took over the corner of my eyes and about six seconds later I heard a huge roar of thunder and rain started pouring down quickly. The tree trunk started getting slippery and I knew I had to move fast. I got pretty far up even with the slippery tree but I came across a very big gap in the tree hallows. I didn’t hesitate and I just went for the leap. I grabbed onto it with one hand but couldn’t get the strength to get my other hand up onto it. I was barely holding on and just my finger tips were holding me up. I felt my finger nail fold back and stab my finger, it was so painful I couldn’t hold on any longer and my finger slipped of the tree. I rocketing towards the ground very fast and I knew I was very high up so I wouldn’t survive. I lost hope and knew I was going to die. There was nothing to save me this time…….
