Jack and Jill grew up

Years later, as newly weds,

Jill went up their hill;

but her pale had a hole in it,

so she came back all wet.

Jack, her hero, knew what to do!

He went down, to town,

To buy the hardest wood

and nails he could get.

He went to work on that hole,

and nailed it with all his might,

as hard and tight as it would let.

Thus Jill was ecstatic,

as Jack really was a sure bet;

but now the poor pale stood,

In different shades of wood.
