No More Dates

The reason, you want a reason?

‘Yes’, he replied.

Ok then, while you desired me for a wife

Another man walked into my life.

The truth is I’m not what you perceive,

I’m not everything you have chosen to believe.

You see the outer shell, words, actions; outer stealth

Protecting a weak, sensitive, soul-hurting self.

The intruder met me, unannounced,

Saw tears in my eyes, denounced,

Saw the fears in my soul, pronounced;

Yet he persevered with every ounce, to break me.

His morals were questionable,

His methods were reprehensible,

His motives indefinable,

His modes operandus detestable.

His determination made him victorious,

He stole my heart and felt glorious,

He stole my halo and left me shaken,

He conquered and left me broken.

So, no matter what you do, sir,

Or how hard you try to woo, sir,

The truth; the reason is: There’s nothing left inside

To make me desire to be any man’s bride; lost at anyone's side.
