Summary

Something that is seldom discussed, something that is seldom written about... reverse apartheid... Life is full of change, and sometimes the ramafications and echoes in the next generation are just... well... they are simply not the best answer, and seldom affect the people of the past who caused the need for change...

When Yesterday hurt Today

I feel out of place

Was I part of the disgrace?

So many worries in me,

Guilt I’m told to face.

.

I look around; I see:

Strolling passersby,

Vendors and buyers,

Under our African sky.

.

I read the paper; I see:

Jobs marked AA,

I’m white, not AA.

I see: theft and death

And trouble: it’s true.

And I’m sad and worried

because Apartheid affected me too.

.

I am young; it’s true

Only born in ’91.

I never forced other’s tears,

I never caused fear.

Yet I’m worried,

Living in fear.

.

I love my country: it’s true,

The rhythm is part of me too,

But I’m sad and worried: it’s true,

because Apartheid affected me too.
