My muscular frame towered over my best friend Rishank and his love Leela. The two of them have been a couple since about 4-5 months, while I have been their most loyal ally. Rishank likes to reveal all his secrets to me as he sees me as a paragon of integrity. Lately he has discussed a lot about Leela’s background with me. As I am lost in these thoughts Leela’s melodious voice makes me enter reality. “Come on. Don’t behave like a bodyguard once again”,she says. I gaze at her lithe figure and that of her slightly bulky partner. “Sorry”, was my reply. It looks as if its perfect harmony for the three of us. But suddenly circumstances change and I become vulnerable to a wide range of negative emotions. But what triggered the collapse of a loving friend, being replaced with a selfish nemesis.

One stormy night I have a peculiar dream about my destiny wherein a distant, deep yet musical voice engages in a conversation with me. In its hypnotic tones as if a magician was luring me into a trick of his, the voice convinces me that Leela is meant to spend her entire life with me. I am baffled. I always considered myself as Leela’s protective brother who will support her ably when she needs him. But here was this bizzare fable about a life with Leela as a couple. I expect myself to get over this particular dream but the more I try, the more frequent the dream occurs. And most curiously I seem to recognise the voice as it talks to me. Finally after an excruciating bout with it, the voice is successful in compelling me to approach the path to my destiny. I was fond of Leela.

But now this fondness had taken an altogether different form as my brotherly fondness for her had turned into obsession. I was like a picture of contenment on the exterior while my inner self had erupted in flames of angst. Rishank was no longer my best friend. Instead my dreams had now interpreted him as an obstacle in my path to achieving my destiny. I began to plot. Plot to get Rishank out of my way. Yes. I had actually planned to kill him. I begin to execute my master plan. I kidnap Leela and then entice Rishank into my trap. I get him to the deserted warehouse where I have already accomodated Leela. I torture my best friend in front of his love. He has got great physical strength but he is no match for my immense power. “Spare him. Please. Leave him alone”, Leela begs of me. I burst into a laughter worthy of psychopaths.

Leela continues, “Do you have a penury of mercy in your heart?” I notice a wave of shock in her voice as she tries to solve the puzzle of how a best friend became the worst enemy. I laugh one of those psychotic laughs. A crack is clearly audible as I break another of Rishank’s bones. I ignore Leela’s cries for mercy as I go on torturing him brutually. At last, when I feel I have done enough damage to him I leave him to embark on a slow and painful journey to death. “Do you think this will make me scared and force me to love you? If you think so you are absolutely mistaken”, sobs Leela. “I don’t expect you to”, I say “Its only to make you realize what I can do to those who dare to love you in my presence”
