Can you see it?
The pain in my eyes?
All the suffering I'm trying to hide?
Can you see it?
My despair you spy,
Just lying below the surface
Of my emerald eyes?
Can you tell
Just how hurt I am?
Do you know
When I question my worth?
Are you distracted
By my mask of lies?
By the fake smiles
"Dont worry"s
and "I'll be fine"s
or have you gone deeper?
To see the stone wall
that I've built up to protect
My damaged and fragile heart?
Have you seen through it
To the heart I hold so dear
So beat up and battered
covered in scars,
Full of tears.
Can you see the places
With all the names engraved?
Of people I once cherished
That fate has taken away?
This is what I'm left with,
A poor broken mess,
Can you really see it?
Or are you distracted by the rest?
