Once in a life, an individual named Tom, sat by a small river. There he sat, with the colors of summer and autumn filtering through all the leaves, bugs, and silvery wisps of web. The smell of earth wafting over his body, encasing him in a beautiful cascade of nature. His ears are filled with the sounds of an occasional bird, and the never ending syllables of water crashing around stone. Tom believes that within his existence, he is tied to the outcome of the world. For within his hand lies a match. A single dry thin piece of wood, that carries with it the weight of a charred outcome. A decision of letting life continue, or of stopping it with a single swipe. Within minutes the winding river so clear, could be clouded with ash and abrupt horror. These are some of the decisions we have the agency to make, life or death by simple means. Yet as the human race we tend to be like Tom, and put the match back into our pocket. All for the possiblity of another beautiful evening spent sitting by a small river.
