I usually make lists, a lot of lists and they can be on anything. This poem was inspired by ‘my regular and everyday worries’ list. Everyday I worry about my dad dying. Everyday. He used to be my best friend so I can’t…..I’m used to having him waking me up at dawn to perform my prayers and the last two lines of the poem came from that.

Everyday i...

Everyday I worry and think

Worrying more than thinking

That they will cast the die

And daddy will die

He will turn to dust

Just as metals rust

And I will mourn

Like the moon

When the sun rises

And brings day

In my dull grey cloak

Crying like grandfather’s clock

When dawn is near

And he isn’t here.
