Who Was Michael Jackson? By: Sheakwon Vaughn Artist: Michael Joseph Jackson Born: August 29th 1958 Died: June 25th 2009 Children: Prince Michael Jackson I, Prince Michael Jackson II, Paris Katherine Jackson. Parents: Katherine Jackson & Joseph Jackson. Job: Entrepreneur, Entertainer, Singer, Dancer & Performer. Born Michael Jackson to Katherine and Joseph Jackson. Defined to the world as the ultimate “King of Pop”. Michael Jackson was one of the greatest entertainers this world has ever known. He has done it all, singing, dancing, performing, and even acting. Michael's music stood, stands and will stand the test of time. His songs were written with the idea of changing the world with love and positivity. With its cultivating lyrics which coincided with ear pleasing melody and rhythm. He was born Michael Joseph Jackson on August 29th 1958 in Gary, Indiana. In a small town such as Gary, Michael and his brothers always remained close to one another. They were all raised as musical children through their fathers guidance. The Jackson's or Jackson4, as they were before Michael had begun singing with them, would often go on shows without Michael because they thought he was too young. However, little did they know until they heard him sing at the age of 5. Growing up as a child Michael was defined as an “old soul”. Soon enough he joined the Jackson's as we know now as the Jackson 5. Michael was inspired by the fast moving James Brown. Many years went by and Michael Jackson became his own. In the middle of his career he released the unforgettable album “Thriller”. While the album sold 40 million copies in its initial run, with seven of its nine tracks reaching top ten. It was also nominated for twelve Grammy Awards and won eight. “We are the World”, in 1984 Jackson did his final tour with the Jackson's to support the album Victory. The one major hit from the recording was Michael's duet with Mick Jagger, “State of Shock”. The next year, Jackson began to put charity first and co-wrote and sang (along with Wille Nelson, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Celine Dion and nearly every pop singer known at that time). “We are the world on behalf of USA for Africa”. I’ve know Michael Jackson for many years, I’ve grown to like his catchy songs which always had a message behind it. Michael Jackson played a big role in my life. His music always spoke directly to me. Take away the music, take away the rhythm and read Michael’s music, in it you'll be able to find some sort of peace. Toward the end of Micheal’s career he had been preparing for a final tour that would have been the last of Michael Jackson's many performances, he said it himself “This Is It!”. Michael wanted to give his fans everything he could before he ended his career. Sadly, Michael did not live to see this tour come true. Michael passed away on June 25th 2009 at UCLA Medical Center at 2:26pm PDT. Even though Michael is no longer with us his music will live on forever, but hey, lets look a the bright side, I bet you didn't know Michael recorded a voice over once on the Simpsons. There’s always something better to look back on even after we lose an icon. Forever remembered as the King of Pop.
