I'm hosting a challenge to see who can write the best short story about a middle child. Can be about a kid or about someone who is now grown who was the middle child in their family. Some (generally accepted) info about middle kids. Sometimes they feel left out because they aren't the special oldest or special youngest, for a more negative take on the story. They are often the most popular in school, succesful in careers because they've had to adapt more than their siblings who were more catered too. If the middle child also happens to be the only boy or only girl they may feel just as "special" as their siblings because of their gender uniqueness.

Short stories only please, I don't have time to read a bunch of novels and poetry is just not really my thing so I'd have trouble judging it fairly. Please no erotica, its just not something I care to read.

Contest ends October 10, unless anyone needs more time. I will become of a fan of the author of the winning story.

Happy writing!
