I think I'm a transplant from another place and time;

just don't fit in here and slowly losing my mind.

Going through the motions of day to day life;

reading of turmoil, hardship and strife.

People are oblivious to all this it seems;

nobody cares now, they live in a dream.

Going about all their everyday chores;

then going back home and closing their doors.

Said hello and how are you to someone today;

the response that i got was get out of my way.

What books do you read I asked the last guy that I met;

I do not read was the answer I get.

Needless to say that didn't go far;

shaking my head as I walk back to my car.

What happened to courtesy, compassion and trust;

I think they are gone now but find them I must.

I refuse to give in to this lifestyle that surrounds me;

refuse to sit back and just let it be.

I want so much more than just to exist;

want to catch up on all that I've missed.

So each day I'll keep trying to go back to one;

try to undo some of the damage that's been done.

Maybe one day through this search I will find;

someone who can talk and actually has a mind.
