The cloudy, dreary, misty haze;

surrounding, enveloping and enclosing.

She turns her head this way and that;

but can't seem to find a way out of this place.

Running faster but getting nowhere

except right back where she started.

Feelings of despair, loneliness and hopelessness;

threaten to hold her prisoner forever.

Trying so very hard to break free of the chains that hold her back;

but always seeming to return to this place.

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide;

facing these demons the only option left open.

Looking for one tiny sliver of light;

one glimpse of peace,

one inkling of hope.

Refusing to give in;

refusing to quit

but tired all the same.

Eyes closing for a moment;

just a quick respite.

She awakes with a new sense of purpose;

determined to find a way out

and start over again.
