It’s a week since I had anything to eat,

I am sitting quietly at the corner of a ceiling.

The whole place is dark and still, with just my heartbeat;

until I try to find out about the unforeseen voices that am hearing.

The door's flung open and a sudden white light beams,

I see a large figure doing something in the room.

It seems to notice me and the place is filled with screams,

Another figure then approaches and slams me with a broom.

I fall to the ground, my legs all broken.

My fear gripped last breath's about to near when I wonder,

Why I deserve this fate to leave my beloved without a token;

I’d rather have lived longer with hunger.

“It’s poisonous! Kill it!” I hear and another huge blow

-blows the light of my existence quickly like it wasn’t there.

Should I blame the creator for he did bestow

upon me this poison marred body that I had to bear?

I never harmed any, apart from my predator and prey,

For I had to eat to live like you

And defend to keep the predators at bay.

I value my life equally like yours and my death is undue.

A tarantula by name, I carry poison for defence

unlike creatures hiding venom behind a smile.

If existence of species like me is considered an offence,

Then we’d rather not be created to live a life this hostile!
