The Beginning

On the long road to the perfect day
Hearts are broken by the words we say

Bitter words said, we can’t take back
They linger in minds, an endless attack.

Yet each new morn is a brand new day
Yesterday’s pain doesn’t live here today.

But often our hurt is too great to let go
When people we love, say words harsh and cold.

Each one a sinner, no one a saint
We all have faults that tarnish and taint.

Yesterday’s tomorrow is here today
Forgiving hearts heal, His light is the way.
