Rest Part II

Chant, Chant, Chant…Alleluia…Chant, Chant, Chant… Alleluia…Chant, Chant, Chant…Amen!
Ah,… hello there! No, no, not to worry, we were just finishing up. Come, won’t you…? Let us walk and talk a bit.
Ah…I see… Hmmm!
Now then, I understand there is a bit of scurry, regarding how to have rest. I can easily understand that there are different situations which may and indeed do arise, which give sway to rest’s rightful place. Thus, much like a pet, you scoot it away from where you must sit a for a spell and contend with issues.
May I say that the issue within is a perception you must take similar to an individual that you were once in an emotional relationship with.
Let me attempt a bit to make this clearer. Let’s say there was an individual, to whom you were romantically involved with, and now the two of you are simply cognizant of each other. That is to say when you encounter each other; there is neither pain, nor regret for your current situation, or pain nor a longing to return. You simply observe and acknowledge each other as a ‘would be passer-by.’
For anymore than that, would indicate some unresolved issues between the two of you.
It is this same perception, which you must have towards the issue, which attempts to disembark you from your boat. It is important to understand there are two guiding issues in play at all times: The Governing Dynamics. They are the ‘Principle’ and the ‘Situation.’
Much like an algebraic equation the principles are the constant, while the situation is the variable factor. The situation or in this case, the issue, does not matter. You simply plug it into the equations and receive your resultant.
Now to contend with what is both within and without: Earlier I spoke to you of the grapes on the vine. It is important to observe which portion you are, for you are not the sap, which runs through the vine, yet without it, you will not be. Neither are you the sweetness of the grape, for it is an expression of the life source which flows through you. Nor are you the vine, for it is simply the frame work, which is solely for your support.
You are the grape, a manifestation of what flows within you and the sweetness is for others to enjoy and savor!
Yet like us, of all the plants, not one of them requires the pruning knife so unsparingly and so unceasingly. None is so dependent on cultivation and training, but this one… yet, in the end it yields a richer reward to the husbandman (gardener) than any other. For there is no other, which the fruit and its juice are so full of spirit, nor so quickening and stimulating.
Moreover, there is also none of which the natural tendency is so entirely evil, no, none where the growth is so ready to run astray, than this type of wood: that it is utterly worthless except for the fire. For you see, there are no artifacts made from the grape vine.
Nevertheless, in the whole plant world there is neither a tree nor a vine to be found so especially suited to the image of humanity in our relation to God, as the vine.
Now like the vine, there is within us three stages, which we must pass through in maturing thereby yielding our best. Now these stages are not the response you would provide to the response to the Sphinx’s “Riddle.” No, no, it is the three, which Plontius proposes: “Purgation, Illumination and Union,” which in time Augustine brings to Christendom.
Do you see, my spiritual friend, you are indeed a manifestation for all who come into contact with you of what lies within?
Oh my, if you dismiss the call to heed and pass through, you will not enter the next phase, and shall remain on the other side, of the bank. Indeed, you may pace up and down, and quite easily see the other segment, yet not touch nor benefit unless you pass over.
For if we do not recognize and not alter, we should truly be ashamed of ourselves and learn from the example of those who trust the devil or men. For if the devil, who is a wicked, a lying spirit, keeps faith with all those who ally themselves with him! Thus, may I ask…oh how much more will the most gracious, all-truthful God keep faith, if a person trusts Him?
Oh! Do so now, for you see, He is our only husbandman. Be quick about it my friend, run and never stop trusting, for as you do so, you shall readily become stronger by its very nature. For the more you exercise something, the stronger it becomes and is easier to rely on and use!
Until our spiritual eyes meet again,
Peace,
Bro. Smith SGS
