"I LOVE YOU."
The cry of a soul.

If my eyes could speak,

They would flutter, “I love you”.

If my breath could speak,

It would whisper, “I love you”.

---

If my fingers could speak,

They would write, “I love you”.

If my feet could speak,

They would waltz, “I love you”.

---

If my heart could speak,

It would throb, “I love you”.

If my mind could speak,

It would pulsate, “I love you”.

---

Alas! My dear, none will happen,

For before I said, “I love you”,

Cruel separation befell us,

Tearing us apart and asunder.

---

How can my eyes flutter?

They are closed forever.

How can my breath whisper?

It has dissolved in the Universe.

---

How can my fingers write?

They have fallen limp and dead.

How can my feet waltz?

They have turned flaccid stumps.

---

How can my heart throb?

It has ceased for eternity.

How can my mind pulsate?

The grey cells fell lifeless.

---

Still, in the still of early morn,

Lying supine on the funeral pyre,

Waiting to be lit, to join Him,

My soul shrieks, “I love you”.

Wow, this took me on a roller coaster ride. As I began reading, I was delighted and headed up in the air. Then half way through, I got to the top, and without warning, reached the ground, feeling like my stomach tumbled.

That's the powerful emotion your words made me feel. I love poetry that has the ability to make me feel like that. There is so much emotion to this piece. Thanks for writing it shyam sundar bulusu.

Thanks, April Pearl. I wrote in my first novel: "But you and I, when did we need words to communicate with each other?" Words are redundant for those in love.

Oh my gosh! This is one of the most beautiful poems I have read here :) The first 3 stanzas were so beautiful. This is really a beautifully written poem with such heavy emotions. And the ending was so full of an emotional impact. Amazing, I enjoyed reading it and it gets a 'like' from me too :) - Sk2093 x

My word... That was absolutely beautiful. Now this is what true love is all about... Words are not always needed between two people who truly love each other, the fact that they share such loving connectivity and as Aristotle once said, "Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies." People who are in love are one, they are a team who accomplish things together hand in hand, whatever life may throw at them. Although a couple are two separate people, on a spiritual level they are interwined together, their hearts merge to become one that beats for both. Any pain is not just felt by one, but it is also felt by the other as well. Your first 3 stanzas were wonderful and then as Lisa mentioned, it becomes kind of like a roller-coaster because the beginning is so positive and then we get to the part where one of them has sadly passed away. As you rightfully say, love is just like a roller-coaster, you have your ups and you have your downs, but only true love can get through the rough and the downs that we are sometimes faced with in life. I guess in some ways, the death of one partner means the death of another, the fact that one partner has passed away, must bring such darkness upon the partner that is left behind, because a couple who love each other are always there for one another and to wake up each morning knowing that the one you love is no longer next to you to give you a smile or a gentle kiss must be so sad. It must feel like a part of you has died as well to lose someone so close in life. You've wrote this poem in such a harmonious and loving way Shyam, I'm not sure if I have the words to truly describe this beautiful and emotive poem. Absolutely wonderful, this is definitely getting a 'like' from me. Great work my friend. :)
