It's a very sad yet humorous poem. The protagonist has just been rejected by his love. He was conscripted to war where he knew he would die. He knows destiny is between his hands, whether to run or to die. However, he talks about it as if it is a friend, being "discreet" and shall unfold by time. He surprisingly survives to the last battle at the "Last Land" where he wrote this poem. He mentions dying with "no glove" meaning nothing to cover his hand. This relates to the second line where he says that destiny is in his hands. He knows, or believes, that his destiny is death in the final battle. In the final line he forgets all his pain and lives in his childhood one last time saying " It's good to fall in love" although he hated the thought of love.

Love and War!

I must doubt my love to end with love
For destiny folds within my hand
Discreet! For now I ascend to stand
And all I fear shall perish with strove
Love is nothing! Freedom is a dove!
The hour glass of life has no sand
But hope is found in the Final Land
Before I fade, with no glove.
All the tireness shall decay
After the thousand and one mile
What shall leave? What shall stay?
That is for the Almighty to file.
But to tell the truth I must say
It's good to fall in love once a while.
