I started as a columnist for the school news
Dressed in blue with misery I wrote to be amused

I meet my girl Tabitha and married with a blaze
She told me she liked starting fires I hope it’s just a phase

My nightmares just kept coming of the nam war
Thank god for my flat feet I couldn’t join the corps

From there I wrote short stories for a days pay
Working for a magazine in desperation’s dismay

My first story was published in startling mystery
From their I went to night shift and the rest is protohistory

For a while I taught English my students called me names
Like scrawny little four eyes and bag of bones of shame

Carrie was published on mother’s day of course
But sad to say soon after she died with great remorse

I quit my job and started Salem’s Lot
They then took the picture for my book, one would of thought of it as a mug shot

My height is 6’4” im under 200 pounds I have blue eyes with frost of white
And as hard as it may seem to believe I claim to have some stage fright

I finally settled down from moving all around
My daughter looks so beautiful in her new prom gown

As life it self keeps going ill write until it ends
I write to all you people and to all of my good friends
