The air was cool and crisp.Dark clouds had gathered in the sky,an occasional ray of  the sun trying to peep through the thick grey blanket.I rolled down the car window and raised my face to the wind.It felt wonderful,to breathe in the fresh pine.scented air,to feel the cool blast of air on my face,to let the wind tousle my hair carelessly. We drove through winding roads, surrounded by massive ancient craggy rocks and tall majestic trees. Here and there amongst those gigantic boulders grew tiny plants which were embellished with pretty flowers in red,blue,green,yellow..a vivid splash of colour against the dull grey stone.High up on the trees, birds chirped and tweeted, the strains of their sweet melodies filling the atmosphere with joy.Their singing was like the background score of the infinitely wonderful motion picture Nature was showing us.As we drove on, the magic of the surroundings started working and I felt my heart soar and be one among the clouds above.Nature is the best therapist,a little while spent in its company and all worries and sorrows vanish into thin air.We decided to halt for a while to stretch our legs which were getting cramped from the long ride. After parking the car to the side of the road,we got off to explore the area.Little did we know about the sight which we were to behold.I walked ahead of the others, and what I saw took my breath away,it had the same effect on my fellow travellers as well.
We were standing.on the banks of a lake.A lake, nestled.peacefully amongst mountains which surrounded it on three sides, like brothers, tall and strong, forming a protective circle around their beloved sister. The water was clear and pristine, gentle waves lapping about, the wind caressing the surface of the water as it blew over.On the edge, stretched a little strip of sand,a tiny picturesque beach. The waters of the lake ever so gently touched the sand on the bank, and receded, like a child playing tag.A few pine cones,a fallen log and twigs lay scattered about on the beach.I was standing on a slightly elevated portion of the bank, where rocks were embedded in the sand, moss covering them, making them look like fuzzy green cushions.Tiny yellow.flowers grew in the crevices of the rocks. It was like their beauty and warmth had melted.the heart of stone.
Taking off my shoes,I walked down to the edge of the water and dipped my feet in the cool clear water. The touch of the water felt so wonderful against.my toes.By now it had started to drizzle, the heavens had finally.opened up.Rain fell on the lake, the drops dancing and bouncing against its surface. The wind sang as the rain danced. It blew through the trees, whistling a jolly tune, making the leaves rustle and quiver. The drizzle turned into a light shower and. while the rain provided the melody, the wind was the harmony and accompaniment,to this wonderful song of nature.Soon, all the trees and flowers and bylittle plants joined in the merry dance, swaying and bobbing happily about.Off in the distance, the mountains seemed to poke their heads from above the clouds, the mist having engulfed them completely.
The wind whipped through my hair, the water and sand caressed my feet. The cheerful birdsong drifted into my ears. This was better than any 4D movie!! I stood rooted to my spot, mesmerized by the sheer beauty around me.I felt like a child at a fair,my heart leaping with joy whenever I turned.and looked around me.My eyes tried to capture this beautiful visual treasure, and it etched itself.permanently on.my mind.I.bowed.my head, humbled by the beauty and power of nature.Nature is the best artist,it creates the most amazing works of art,it is a magician, conjuring the most fascinating phenomena.I reluctantly traced my feet back to the car, looking back over my shoulder to catch a last glimpse of this most wonderful sight. This lake, high up in the mountains,is one I shall never forget,it's memory drifting into my senses and making my spirit soar.
