The cool breeze playing thru your hair peppered with gray.
Your merry blue eyes taking in your land.
There goes the bunny who just had babies in the lower lawn.
Soon she will find the food you put out for her.
Your small hands cupping the warm mug as I sit beside you trying my best to be like you.

There goes 'ole Jack, the only snake you wont kill.
He is heading for his part of the rock ledge to sun himself.
He is regal as he curls about and seems to look at you.
With a friendly hello on his forked tongue.
I try to act brave, just like you, tho only you know I still fear him

I pack up the thermos into my bag trying to hold back the tears.
I lean over kissing the ground where you lay, setting your coffee on the stone that bears your name.
The space between the dates too short for us.
One tear falling as I stand and walk away.
Stopping to hear your voice on the wind
"Mind the baby bunnies in the yard baby"
