In the early morning sun I sat on my porch with my coffee and I thought of you.
Soft loving music playing on the air, haunting to my ears.
Lingering in my soul and I thought of you.
Cars going by left and right, people goin on with their lives.
All while the woman crooned about loving endlessly, and I thought of you.

Where are you now? What are you doing?
Questions drumming through my head in time with the beat.
My heart stopping at each thought of you.
have I met you yet? Have I lost you still?
My breath catching in my chest, the lump in my throat.
The always present thought that you don't exist

The music changes hoping for a reprieve as the tempo steps up
Only to create images of swaying hips.
Of eyes capturing my soul
I sip my coffee and think of you
