Lost

Watching, waiting,

When will the next scar appear?

On her arm, or her thigh?

Why? Why does she do it?

Because she burns, burns inside.

It’s a constant battle,

A fight, for perfection,

Or control,

Or a release,

She doesn’t know,

Not anymore.

What is she, really?

Just a broken husk,

A shell of what she used to be,

A happy child,

But then,

She grew up,

And she saw the world,

What it wanted,

What it demanded,

Was her soul,

And it took it.

Her beautiful life,

And now,

She is dead,

Still conscious,

But gone,

Lost.
