The day my world fell apart

Up until now I have lived my life as a Christian, believing God is up there and all around watching over us, our movements and our actions. While he sits on his heavenly throne governing the universe waiting for the right time for Armageddon. It will sneak up on you like a thief in the night he says about judgement day. Really? So i have to watch my p’s and q’s at all times because well you never know when that day will be upon you.

You ask questions about the scripture’s seemingly contradictory nature and your priest, pastor, elder or teacher tells you to have faith God works in mysterious ways. If god is love and is unmoveable, why the mystery? If God provided a book to teach me, why has it confused me further? In this day in age you don’t see elders, priests or the clergy spearing undesirable women in their private parts, you don’t see religions clergy demanding the death of all homosexuals, disobedient teenagers or those that choose to work on a Saturday, and for those in the west, when we do hear of such things happening in the world we are appalled! Whatever your Christian denomination you are taught that their path is the ONLY way to salvation and all other denominations are false religion and will perish when the almighty brings about the second coming.

You are taught that God is one of justice, of love and affection and yet he orders killings. If life is so precious why destroy it? You are taught that blood is the life force and should not be eaten or taken into the body, so you rule out blood transfusions, however Jesus commands us to drink of his blood and eat of his flesh.

When am I to take the Bible literally and when am I to interpret, well the answer to that lies in the hand of whoever’s interpreting. No doubt your teacher who is supposedly of superior knowledge will tell you to have faith or will point you to another verse to muddily clarify his point. On the one hand the Catholics are barbaric for not allowing contraception for God told us to go forth and fill the earth, on the other Church of England is hypocritical for blessing the soldiers, their bullets and such knowing full well that they are designed to kill and slaughter, surely that doesn’t sound like the sentiments of a God that is love.

So now I’m sitting here not knowing what to do, not knowing which part of the scriptures to pay attention to. Jesus sat with all sorts and Peter said be all things to all men and that God loves us all. Yet Gays, adulaters’ etc are hated by God. How can a being who is pure love also feel hatred? Again there are scriptures to muddily clarify.
