A Last Breath…

A deep sigh of sorrow passes through,
As I collapse to the ground.
A moment’s flicker of hope,
Gleefully glances around.

The sharp dagger through my heart,
The killer’s weapon not removed.
The blood gushing, the heartbeat crashing,
The kill proved.

A momentary glance up high,
A last witting chance flown by.
The angels coming down to me,
The gods singing their songs to me.

As if upon a cloud,
Carried to the heavens from Earth at this time.
On a mass of white,
Up to cloud nine.

The flutes play,
The songs are sung.
The people say ‘Welcome.’
‘Bravo’ ‘Well Done.’

Confusion strikes me as I listen,
To the encoring shouts of congratulations.
My soul is refreshed once more,
As I understand that I have made it to heaven.

Utter sadness withdraws me,
From the ongoing party.
As I pine for the ones left behind,
Them loved ones, old, young, caring, kind.

However a new world awaits,
One filled with beauty, wonder and grace.
Among heroes, among old friends,
Among family, the list may never end.

A final farewell, a kiss goodbye.
A last exit from that world of mine.
