“Not only am I going to be late for this physics exam I have to get gas too!” Tara Temple hystericallyyells into her Bluetooth headset as she swerves down the interstate. “I’ve got to get an energy drink, I stayed up so late last night studying.” Her best friend, Emma is on the other end of the phone attempting to calm her down. “Come on girl, all you need to do is get fuel and head to class. Don’t make any other detours.” Tara sighs. “I mean, I get it, I desperately need to get my priorities in order.” Tara gets off the highway and pulls into the gas station. “Look, I got to go. I’m pulling up to a pump right now. If you can tell Professor Gehirn that I got a flat and I’ll be there as soon as I can.” Emma pauses. “Girl, you know the professor doesn’t go for any kind of excuses’?” Tara unhooks her seat belt and grabs her phone to notice she has received a text from an unknown number. “Yeah, I know his policy, just stall him somehow. Ask a bunch of questions or something! Look I got to go.” “Alright, I’ll give you a heads up if things start to turn sour, talk to you later.” Tara and Emma hang up. Tara opens up the text. Don’t go inside! Keep driving! Puzzled, Tara replies. Who is this? The mystery sender instantaneously replies. T.T. ‘Whatever’ Tara thinks to herself. She jumps out of her car and slides her debit card into the gas pump only to be informed she needs to see the clerk. ‘Great.’ Tara jogs into the convenience store. ‘Perfect’, she thought there’s four people already in line. As she steps in line her pocket vibrates, she looks at her phone Tara! Get out of there, right now! Tara texts back. Who is this? Now third in line, she disregards the mystery text as she is distracted by a customer arguing with the cashier. ‘I’m never going to make it to class.’ She tells herself. Her phone vibrates again. Tara! Please trust me and walk out now! Frustrated she replies back. Whoever this is, I don’t have time. Now second in line Tara’s phone again vibrates. If you don’t come outside, I’m going to slash your tires.” Now worried and confused. Tara immediately leaves her place in line and walks outside to investigate the security of her vehicle. She walks up to her car and gazes around for anyone that appears suspect. Coast is clear. Tara eagerly makes her way back into the convenience store. Without warning a pickup truck mows through the parking area and in seconds drives right runs through the front door of the convenience store. Tara is knocked to the ground dropping her ladybug smart phone. Shards of glass and debris take to the air. The truck is at a standstill now and all that can be seen is smoke. Unscathed, Tara picks herself back up and dusts herself off. In shock and disbelief she stares into the store where she was just standing. Quickly she picks her phone off the ground to see another mystery text. Don’t be late, lol.
