He held her close, he kissed her cheek and whispered "today at work, I kept thinking about you". He waited for a response. There wasn't one.
"Don't you wanna know what part of you I thought of?" No response, there never was. “I thought of your eyes" he looked at them now, cold and distant. He waited for that slight glimmer they used to have when he talk about them. There was no response; there hadn't been one since the accident.
" I thought about your lips, how soft they are" he kissed them, there were cold, they opened slightly.
"I thought about your hair" it had lost its normal shine, but it was still beautiful. He touched her face, moving a strand of hair.
“I thought about your body, your long limbs". He caressed her sides. At one point this would have made her shiver and blush. Now it did nothing.
"I thought about your fingers, so soft and delicate, the wonderful music you use to make" she would never again play those songs she loved; the ones that made her smile and cry. She would never smile or cry again.
"I thought about you, my gorgeous girl. My love. My Sarah" he kissed her again. Longer this time, but her lips parted no farther.
" I love you. Did you know that? I never told you before the accident. But I wanted to" he kissed her "I love you"
He kissed her lips, her cheeks. Her forehead. And her lips again. When he pulled away there was a tear on her cheek. “No don't cry, I love you, I love you" he whispered. Slowing touching where her arm used to be. It had long ago stopped bleeding.
“I love you, I love you, do you hear me. I love with will all my soul, so don't do this, don't lock me out" he was screaming now. More tears where falling from his eyes to her cheek. "Answer me, answer me!" He screamed. But she wouldn't, she couldn't. A corpse can't respond.
