FAMILY VACATION

Last year I went on a vacation with my two siblings 8 and 6 year old and my mom.  It was a lot like the movie Home Alone with a lot of excitement and anxiousness in the air.  There was a lot of things that everyone still needed to do. We had to pack our bags, take care of the mail, make sure the neighbors would put out our trash and also call the schools and let them know of the vacation we were going on so they would excuse our absence. Mom still needed to make arrangements with Uber to take us to the airport.I know a vacation sounded a lot of fun but I wasn’t really sure I wanted to go.  Going on vacation with my mom and two younger siblings just meant that I would be helping out with the kids and a babysitter.

Nevertheless, I convinced myself to go and before long we were on the plane.  I sat by my 6 year old sister who just fell asleep through the whole flight and snored the whole time.  I had to wake her up for the snacks they provided on the plane because as little as it was you didn’t want to miss that.  My mom sat by my other sibling who was afraid of flights and was anxious through the takeoff and landing. Since that was his first time he finally realized it wasn’t as bad as he had thought it would be.  It was funny that he was afraid of flights because he loves planes and is always playing with his toy planes at home and pretending to fly them.  Once we landed we got a shuttle and heading to the hotel that was located across from Disneyland. We checked into our hotel and headed straight for some food.  Luckily there was a restaurant very close to our hotel and so we did not need to rent a car or take any shuttles.  We all had a very fulfilling breakfast and headed to explore Disneyland.  We all wore our Disneyland t-shirts my mom had ordered online since she said they were expensive at Disneyland. Since we had two day park hopper tickets we decided to explore the one park today and the next park tomorrow.  My siblings were super excited because they had only dreamed about Disneyland or watched commercials and shows on TV about this place and now they were actually were here.  It was fun to see their excitement. I had already been to Disneyland when I was 7. I could only remember that there were a lot of people and long lines. I remember my last trip all I wanted to do was hang out at the hotel and swim.  My mom said we were not doing that this time. As a single mom she had paid a lot of money so we could have this vacation.  We stayed out at the park as long as we could then we would come back tire to the hotel for a break. My sister enjoyed all the rides and could not get enough.  My brother again was anxious and would worry that his tummy would hurt from going on one of the rides.  We finally assured him that it was not the roller coaster rides and convinced him to go on most of the rides we went on. We ate and enjoyed all the rides and fun with the family.  My mom had to get a wheelchair since she has a disability and could not walk those large grounds.  We were so tired when we came back to the hotel each night.

I am so fortunate for my mom taking us on this vacation.  I know it cost her a lot of money to save up for the four of us to go on vacation. After Disneyland we caught a train to San Diego and got a hotel on the beach and we all got to swim, walk on the beach collect sea shells, eat fish tacos and build castles. It was a memorable vacation for all of us.  My mom said it is a once in a lifetime or none at al for many families.  I hope I get to do this again one all of us are a little bit older and can help my mom pay for our next vacation together.  My mom talks to us about our vacation and asks us if we enjoyed it.  I think she wonders if it was worth it.  My little brother responded saying we need to go again and my mom burst out laughing saying it will be awhile.  I could tell she was happy that the kids really enjoyed the vacation and her hard earned money went towards making a memorable time for the family.
