A short poem written for my creative writing class. I was thinking of different ways you could look at a story, and this is what came of it.

When you read
You create their existence
Given the seed
Yet you show no resistance

Do you enjoy it?
Sending innocents to die?
All you do is read and sit
Thinking you’re so sly

Sure, one may return
With a tale to tell
But just you at your lectern
While they went through hell

Now I ask, no, I plead
Please just stop where you’re at
Before waste lays in your stead
Please don’t leave them like that

They’re true as thee
But not like me
For the narrator is forever to be
Stuck in purgatory
