This is a retrospective poem about my experience of Anorexia in the hope that it raises awareness for this serious mental health issue. It has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness.

I won't eat

So I'll starve myself

Refusing any food at my feet

And disregarding my own physical health

Because all I want is to win

And then I can be free.

The answer is perfection, I need to be thin

In society, it's what we all need to be

For happiness, popularity and success

To come to you, that is the key,

You may want to sigh "She's ill, oh bless,"

But this is what my

Heart truly desires, you need to face the sad reality:

That I would rather be thin and die
