"Come on Jaden." Kelly urged me, holding the classroom door. It was then when I realized class was over, and I had fallen asleep. Usually I was a good student, A's and B's only, but lately I had overworked myself, to the point where I was getting between two and four hours of sleep each night. I stood up, and quickly shoved all my pencils and my history books into my bag. I walked over to Kelly, my bestfriend, with my shoulders slumped. "How much sleep did you get last night JJ?" Kelly asked worriedly. I could tell she tried hard to keep her question happy, using my nickname. "I'm not sure." I replied walking through a school hallway with her. "I fell asleep on top of my Science notebook, hours after the sun was up." Luckily it History was the last class of the day, so Kelly and I got to go home and relax. Well, she would relax, I would most likely do a little math..."Well, see you soon Jaden. Get some sleep for me." Kelly said hugging me. "You know I can't." I replied with a hint of a smirk. Kelly smiled and got into her mother's car, and drove off. I, however, started slowly walking home.

But I couldn't, I was stopped. I knew it before it happened. I got grabbed by the back of my navy blue hoodie, and spun around to face Alex. Alex had bullied me since the day she been transferred from her old school to Silver Ridge, our high school. Alex was a deathly skinny girl, with short black hair that she thought was "punk", hazel eyes, and a thick coat of make up, more than I've ever seen on someone's face in my life. She acted like she was the hottest thing on earth, and treated everyone else like dirt for no reason that I could see.

"So, piss-head, you ready for the beating you deserve?" Alex questioned with an eyebrow raised. I looked at my feet, and stayed quiet. That didn't last long. Alex started by punching my right cheek, knocking me to the ground. It was an early start, usually she insulted me first...The searing pain in my cheek spread to my stomach, as Alex kicked me with all the strength she had in her thin body. "Please..." I whispered in pain, but I knew it wouldn't stop. Alex wasn't capable of pity. "What's that, you piece of Sh-" Alex started, but was interrupted by someone. My eyes were closed as I clutched my stomach, so I couldn't see who the person was. "That's enough." A boy-ish, somewhat rough voice commanded. "What are you gonna do new kid?" Alex replied harshly. I opened my eyes enough to see a blurry figure. It was tall, nearly a foot taller than Alex. But despite my best efforts, my eyes closed again, as I passed out.

After what seemed like a long slumber, I sat up with a jolt. It took me a moment to take in my surroundings. White bed, white walls, and several gadgets around the room. I was in a hospital bed! I blinked multiple times, and saw that there was a nurse in the room with me. "Hello." She greeted in a friendly tone, noticing that I was awake. "Jaden Thorn is it? I'm sorry to inform you, but you have recently suffered severe head injury. If you had left it alone any longer it might have been fatal." The nurse stated. Wait, head injury? I must have gotten that a few days before...The nurse comminuted, "It's a very lucky thing that Mr. Hunter brought you in when he did." 'Hunter? Was that the boy who I saw? He saved me?' A thousand thoughts swirled through my head, giving me a headache. That's when he walked in.

"Hey, is she up?" Asked the voice from earlier, before his eyes fell on me. The boy was, for lack of better words, gorgeous. He had slightly unkept dark brown hair that fell down into his eyes. His eyes...They were an almost piercing green, large and beautiful. He had pale skin, with a cute mouth that carried a mischievious smile, even when his eyes said he was worried about something. Then it hit me. Was he worried...about me? He'd stepped in to help me, taken me to the hospital, then stayed to see if I was ok...Why? It's not like I'd ever done anything cool, and we had never even spoken. But still, he had helped me...

"How are you feeling?" He asked, as if we were old friends. "G-G-Good..." I shyly replied, still admiring the boy slightly. "I'm glad." The boy said, his mischievous smile appearing wider. "I'm Hunter by the way." It took me another moment to reply with my own name. "I'm Jaden." Hunter came over to the hospital bed and kneeled over, close to me. I know this is dumb and cheesy, but my heart literally skipped a beat, and time became slower. Hunter and I locked eyes for a moment. "Why did you save me?" I asked quietly, curious about him. "Because...I don't like seeing anyone in trouble. Especially when they did nothing to deserve it." Hunter replied honestly. He chuckled at himself and looked down at his hands. "Heh, I know that's dumb. But it's true." He added shyly. His eyes rose back up to mine again. "Can I say something else stupid?" He asked. I nodded, and Hunter slowly came closer to me, our lips softly touching.
