Silence hangs in the air.

It’s awkward with nothing to share.

The birds and the bees,

The wind in the trees;

None of that is there.

My right, it is your left.

My thoughts are not the best.

Your left is my right,

The sun is so bright,

And my mind remembers the threat.

Friends, I thought we were.

You said you’d never be far.

We were on the floor,

Then a knock on the door,

Then you were gone in my car.

Years have passed since then.

I’ve moved on and made new friends.

Then a walk in the park,

With my dog that does bark,

And my life has turned again.

I don’t know what to say.

You left me for years that day.

No words are said,

And the wind is dead,

As I turn and walk away.
