This is a poem I did a long time ago for English inspired by the bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I know I keep posting really old stuff, but I figure it would be safer to publish older stuff before I post the new because I hear readers can be kind of demanding. XD And I do NOT write very fast. -_-;;;

Aftershock

I stand and stare

at the  world around me

And cannot believe

What just happened.

Mai-chan

lays there – unmoving

Beside me.

How’d she get there?

The warehouse that

Was beside me

Is gone.

Ash, bricks, and wood

Lie everywhere.

I’m sloughing through it.

I peek at my hands –

They’re black, flaky

Stumps

At the ends of my arms.

My arms

f

a

l

l

To my sides.

A word flashes through

My mind – bomb.

I cry.
