Severus stared at the faces on the photo. A smiling and laughing man and woman with a tiny, happy baby showed. The one that shone like a star was the beautiful woman. “Lily,” Severus groaned silently but sadly. His despair was at a breaking point. Staring at the woman he loved dearly was much to handle. Sadness quickly left him and rage bubbled up inside him. He felt like a boiling pot. Then he overflowed. Severus tore Lily from the picture and threw away James and Harry. He hated everyone now. He was angry at Voldemort. Why did he kill her? Wasn’t he just content with James and the boy? He felt angry at James. He was such a bully. Why did he of all people marry her? He was angry with Wormtail. Why did he have to be such a betrayal? Lily Snape. Beautiful, he thought. Lily Snape. The words rolled around in his mind like a ball in the trunk of a car until it finally slipped out like water. “L-Lily Snape,” he said quietly and weak with his voice trembling greatly. He closed his eyes, still holding his love, and a tear fell, dripping off his nose, onto the picture, and onto Lily’s cheek. He wiped off the picture ever so gently. It was like holding an injured butterfly wing. More tears cascaded down his cheeks and nose. After a while, he wiped them off. He kissed the beautiful face on the picture. After, he gently put the fragmented, smiling picture into his pocket. Without another thought, he left the room.
