She has scars

They poke along her arms

And she bleeds whatever makes her an experiment

As if it helps her

As if she likes it

But, it doesn’t

It only makes her worse

Because instead of a response

She’s trying to dig out of her sadness

A mechanical contraption

It pushes her forward to the top of the heap

And as her face reaches the top

She is dropped back down to the pit of the world

Of course there’s a smile on her face

It makes her look happy

But her insides scream to help let go

Let go of the fascination

It clinches onto the earth

And her tears drop

Because the bond that she has

Is thicker than her

It’s tougher than her

Blond feathers are plucked from her head

The smile is sewn onto her face

Her family only falls into the seams of that smile

And as the world grows older

They fall deeper

And they understand that this isn’t practice

Because when they leave

They are the only ones that leave

She stays in that room alone

And the last time they leave her

There’s something wrong

And when she ends

Things no longer feel so wrong

Because when she ends

Nothing is wrong

Everything is right

Because she was given time to leave that beam

And she was given a break from feeling nothing

From feeling nothing that was wanted
