Hide the Truth
Whispers of the past are held on his lips,
Names of old loves are written on his heart,
And it is here I feel I may be able to lose
The future of a beautiful Dawn.
Screams filter from my lungs,
Broken is this heart that is tethered
To a past that haunts each footstep taken.
How could I have been so blind?
Eager attempts to free the wind from its cage
Have all failed.
His smile is riddled with fractured disappointment…
Does he say these things to simply fulfill
A fantasy?
Am I simply another mindless indulgence?
His heart is hidden to me now—
True intentions are quite unclear.
Am I another conquest?
Blood soaks the grounds as these thoughts
Are wrung from my mind to dismantle
All that was once certain.
There are tears spilling hot down the face—
Melting the dismay
And turning into molten insecurity.
Torment is in the unknown…
It consumes me with the vigor of human consumption.
I breathe,
Yet glass is all that enters,
And my lungs are shredded with suffocation once more—
How can I be so fragile?
