I pour my heart upon empty pages
Hoping all the worlds beyond mine
Will hear these troubled surfacing.
All my unguarded thoughts
Coagulate to form blood clots
Of the heart for all to see…
I cannot hide anymore.
The brokenness I feel is blindingly real—
Biting the hands of time
And knawing on the splintered bones.
An empty ally way of dead space grows throughout
The heart’s core—
Thoughts knocking on always locked doors,
And the silence screaming,
“LET ME IN!”
The death knell arises in melody at first light—
Its call can be heard for miles around;
This is the beginning of another dead day.
Shallow words scream for new life,
And crave the nearest and most
Desolate sunset imaginable
Which you believe to be your cure.
Let the waves,
Tattered by gravity,
Cleanse my soul again—
Filling the emptiness inside,
And covering the wounds that seep all the time.
