What do you do with the hurt you hide
How do you heal your wounded pride
Soon the glass smile you live behind
Will crack and break your tortured mind

You’re up in the diamond sky
But have you ever asked why
At the moment when beauty passes you by
You feel that at last, you know how to fly

You feel that you must not let them in
You don’t fight, because you can never win
All you want is to step out of the limelight
Be happy, be true, be real for one night

But you’re up in the diamond sky
And your whole life you’ve never asked why
At the moment when beauty wraps you around
Your heart gives a small, broken-winged bound

You live a life in a heavenly hell
With all those secrets you can never tell
But have you ever thought that there might be a way
Out of the brightness into the day

But you’re up in the diamond sky
Your whole life you’ve never asked why
At the moment when beauty pulls at your heart
Your body feels like it’s falling apart

You’re up in the diamond sky
But you can fly if you just ask why
At the moment when you think you know what to say
The lights dim and they start another day
