Dark, bitter-sweet caffeine
Strong in its power
To pull me out my sleep
Hot, warm rush of strength
Going down my throat and into my veins
Oh sweet, dear caffeine,
What would my life be without thee?
Lazy, surely, since through thy energy
I can rise to my feet.
Oh, dear Christ above
I surely know
I would bump my head into the ground
Without my coffee mug
I just pray that tomorrow
My coffee maker works
And that the caffeine goddess
Pushes my brain back to work
Dark, bitter-sweet caffeine
Strong in its power
To pull me out my sleep
Without your waves of strength
I wouldn’t be able to rise to my feet.
