Time's cruelity rings
at our lobes,
taunting with the
subtle chime of
passing days.
The hours rest gently
at our feet, our toes
curl loosely around
second hand notions
that hover in silence.
Notions of worth
and waste nestle
themselves in our path,
weighting every step.
Translating to an audible
gait as loafers meet
crumbling pavement.
One foot forced mindlessly
in front of the next,
as it's restless verse
plays over and
over again, driven
by a carefully
measured rhyme.
