My Paradise

First I discover I was very wrong about life

But it was necessary to be so to get here

The pain was worth it

And I’m happier than before

No one hated me as much as I thought they did

I wasn’t as evil as I thought I was

I look at guilty and jealousy from a distance

Understand them, and thank them for their purpose

I don’t feel like a freak singing and dancing down a back street

The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing

The sea is smiling, the grass is flowing,

An old man is coating his fence with varnish.

An old lady in a parallel universe is happy

And she’s never played football or been to New York,

But she has whistled in her garden for forty years,

Drying a wet jacket that still smells of smoke

Less people are pretending about what’s true

Less people are paying attention to liars and lies,

Harmony is everywhere and karma is obvious,

To the same degree denial wasn’t.

Eternity exists and in it,

Each moment is ten times better

Than the dream I had about

Being accepted by the others.

No. That’s unimaginably good!!!

Then, to top it off,

I’m 11 years old

And the best looking girl at my school

Kisses my lips and tells me she loves me.

That’ll do.
