Is it just me, or don’t people give a rat’s *** about each other anymore? There are people who desperately need jobs, but no one will give them one. There are people who desperately need medical care, and they can’t get it. There are sick people wandering around on the streets begging for money, but everyone just drives by. People kick out their own children when they don’t feel like dealing with them anymore. There are children who can’t read, and no one will help them. Pharmaceutical companies get rich off of grants and money from well-meaning charities while they spend all of that money on finding treatments instead of cures because it makes them richer. Banks claim to protect your money, but instead they steal some whenever they find a convenient excuse. Men beat their women then leave them barefoot and pregnant. Those in charge who claim to protect your rights violate them every day in the name of security, when it was Thomas Jefferson who said if you sacrifice liberty for security, you’ll have neither. What the hell is wrong with you people?! We have something in common, all of us: we are human beings. All humans have needs. If you are given an opportunity to give to help others, to help someone with their needs, just do it, damn it! Stop thinking only about your bottom line or how rich and famous you’ll be or are, when none of that crap matters in the end! If you believe in anything, you have to see that this unrighteous selfishness is just wrong. No matter who you are, no matter what you believe, you have to see that way you treat other people is just wrong. Remember the Golden Rule, you know, treat others as you want to be treated? No one who was great ever believed they were going to be rich and famous –they just knew they had an important job to do. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a man of God who truly believed in peace and equality; Jackie Robinson, someone who did something no one else had done and paved the way for today’s black athletes; Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was in a wheelchair the whole time; Benjamin Franklin, the mack daddy of all mack daddies, helped lead and win war on a worldwide empire; etcetera. No one has purpose anymore. Everyone is so self-serving and obsessed with constant visual stimulation. Everyone is obsessed with the lousy clothes you wear, or what brand their handbag is, or where you shop, or what’s in your pay and benefits. We are not here accidentally; if you believe that, you may as well just give up on life now and die already, ‘cause there’s no point. But if you have faith at all, you have to believe that care and concern have just disappeared, and, like our democratic predecessors, the Roman Republic, we will fall; our whole nation will just collapse under its own weight. We have to learn to become interdependent again, become true villages, not a bunch of buildings and streets occupied with people who just don’t give a **** about you or anyone else but themselves. If you had nothing and needed help, wouldn’t you want it? If you were sick, wouldn’t you want all the care you needed? If you had nowhere to go, wouldn’t you want someone to take you in? If you walked through the door, would you want someone to say something nice to you and not something negative? If you tripped and got stuck, wouldn’t you want someone to lend a hand? If you were seriously hurt, wouldn’t you want help to arrive quickly? If the answer to any of these questions is “yes”, then you need to know this: this nation will not survive if care and concern continue to be absent from our society. If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, you need to start treating people like people, and not disrespect others –ever, even if they do it to you. Act like you want others to act towards you, or else you, your future children, and everyone after that will be living like those in the Dark Ages –no knowledge, no money except for a small group of people, no medicine, no cell phones, no hospitals, no ******* video games, no anything. Everything will be just gone. Gone. And only you can stop it.
