A A A

On the day you told me you loved me,

I cried.

Cried for me,

Cried for you,

Cried because

We both knew I could never

Never love you the same

Love you like you

Love me

A fiery passion

In your mind,

Body,

Heart.

You smoked more than

Churchill but,

You looked strange

Wrong, out of place

A slim Vogue between

Slim Vogue fingers

Silver scales on silver skin

High heels too high

On cracked ground.

You call me

Said you couldn’t live without me

Said I could never be

Yours.

You loved me.

I loved him.

You didn’t want life

You wanted me

And that was exactly

What I couldn’t offer.

Thirteen pills

59 minutes alone

16 hours in a static bed

Crying

Insides out

Then serenity

A life we both knew was

Worth one more shot

So you moved away

I stayed put

People still call you the

Heinous bitch that

Ruined my life

A vow of confidence separated

My body from yours

Some would call you my downfall

I called you my best friend.
